Healthcare Volunteer Program

Program Overview

The Volunteer Program provides students with an opportunity to serve our healthcare community, gain hands-on experience in a clinical or supportive environment, and develop professional skills. Volunteers play an important role in enhancing patient care, supporting staff, and promoting a welcoming atmosphere for residents, patients, and visitors.


We welcome:

  • Nursing and STEM students – interested in healthcare careers and seeking meaningful exposure.
  • Non-healthcare students – passionate about service, patient interaction, and community engagement.

Volunteer Roles

Patient Support & Companionship - Reading, engaging in conversation, assisting with activities.


Unit Assistance - Stocking supplies, supporting staff with non-clinical tasks, transporting patients (where appropriate).


Administrative Support - Assisting with clerical work, reception, and event preparation.


Recreational Activities - Helping in art, music, games, and wellness programs.


STEM/Nursing Student Assignments - Shadowing professionals, learning about patient care, supporting health education programs.

Program Requirements

  • Age: Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Commitment: Minimum of 4 hours per week for at least 3 months.
  • Health Clearance: TB test, immunization record, flu shot (seasonal), COVID-19 vaccination (if required by institution).
  • Background Check: Required for volunteers 18 and older.
  • Orientation & Training: Mandatory before placement.

Application Process

1. Complete Online Volunteer Application Form.

2. Submit Required Documents:

  • Resume (optional for non-healthcare students, required for Nursing/STEM).
  • School verification letter (if applicable).
  • Health clearance documents.

3. Interview with Volunteer Coordinator

  • Discuss availability, interests, and best placement.

4. Orientation & Training

  • Patient interaction, safety procedures, confidentiality (HIPAA).
