Our mission is to empower and support the healthcare workforce in New York by providing healthcare programs, resources, and partnerships that improve efficiency, strengthen quality of care, and ensure patients—especially the most vulnerable—receive the dignity and compassion they deserve.
We are inspired by the Florence Nightingale legacy, “The Lady with the Lamp,” whose tireless dedication to the sick and wounded set the foundation for modern nursing and redefined the meaning of service in healthcare.
Guided by the principles of compassion, equity, and service, our organization supports initiatives that expand access to quality healthcare, strengthen healthcare education and workforce development, and remove barriers that prevent patients from receiving timely and effective care. This includes addressing broader social factors that impact health outcomes.
Our goal is to create a stronger, more resilient New York healthcare support system that uplifts providers and patients alike, ensuring brighter and healthier futures for generations of New Yorkers.
Our History
The Lady with the Lamp Corporation was founded to honor the Florence Nightingale legacy, celebrating the spirit and example of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing whose compassion and vision transformed healthcare worldwide. Recognizing the challenges faced by today’s healthcare workers and the persistent gaps in patient care, our organization was established to carry forward her legacy in a modern context.
Since our inception, we have focused on healthcare programs that improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the capacity of those on the frontlines. From supporting workforce development initiatives to building partnerships with healthcare institutions and addressing unmet needs in underserved communities, we remain committed to bridging gaps in care and advancing health equity.
With Florence Nightingale’s lamp as our symbol of hope and guidance, we strive to be a light for both caregivers and patients—leading the way toward a healthier tomorrow through our New York healthcare support initiatives.
What We Do
Through partnerships with organizations of all sizes, we provide grants and programs in Healthcare Workforce Development, Community Access to Care, and Basic Needs, continuing the Florence Nightingale legacy while enhancing New York healthcare support through our various healthcare programs.
